Mossakowski to redshirt, plus stats from UK's football commits

In an announcement that realy surprised no one, UK's Ryan Mossakowski will be redshirting this season. No word on what will happen with fellow frosh Morgan Newton, although I think he will remain active. Brooks has said that he may redshirt both players as he did not want to waste a year of eligibility on just a few random blowout win appearances. Both Mossakowski and Newton signed with UK, knowing that a redshirt season was a real possibility.

Elsewhere, Jody Demling continues his great work in keeping us up to date as to how UK's 6 football commitments HS seasons are going. Let's take a look at Demling's stats with my comments in italics:

  • Raymond Sanders, RB, Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson - Sanders scored on TD runs of 2 and 50 yards in a 68-0 romp over Columbia. Sanders continues to post big numbers and it looks like he is a true breakaway threat with the 50 yard TD.
  • Joseph Mansour, K, LaGrange (Ga.) - Mansour hit three of four extra points, punted four times for 45 yards and booted four of five kickoffs into the end zone for a touchback during a 34-7 victory over Heard County. Looks like Mansour is the real deal. His abililty to get kickoffs into the endzone is an especially good sign.
  • Justin Henderson, DE, Bamberg (S.C.) Erhardt - No game this weekend. Still waiting to see what Henderson can do on the field.
  • Tim McAdoo, DT, Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Oakland - McAdoo had four tackles, including a pair of sacks, during a 20-0 win over Siegel. By my count, this is 3 sacks in two weeks.
  • Teven Eatmon, TE, Buycrus (OH) Wynford - No stats available for Eatmon but his team beat Mohawk 19-12.
  • Tyler Brause, QB, Bucyrus (Ohio) Wynford - Brause ran 17 times for 178 yards and scored three TDs - he actually scored all 19 points - in a 19-12 win over Mohawk. Impressive showing for Brause. Not too how Mossakowski's redshirt will affect how UK looks at him as a QB, bu looks like he could be an impact at TE.
