Damn, it feels good to be a Spartan? Or Mountaineer? That appears to be the latest buzz going on in the Adreian Payne commitment decision from the late night pundits and bloggers. There has not been a lot of love thrown UK's way, but it's safe to say that this is just in the court of public opinion. Payne's camp has deflected any possible rumors and has done an excellent job in keeping the wraps on the big decision. As of now, there is still talk that the commitment may take place on ESPN-U around 6 PM, but nothing has been set in stone. If I do see anything official. I will try to update from my iphone at work today. Now on to the rumors.
The first rumors that leaked out was that this would be a Michigan State/West Virginia decision but Payne's HS coach Art Winston quickly put that rumor to rest, same as he did with the prior rumor that it was a Kentucky/West Virginia affair:
“I don’t know where that came from. All four schools are in the mix. I think he enjoyed all his visits and he likes all the coaches. That’s a plus.”
The other story to hit late last night was that Michigan State was feeling pretty confident about Payne. I know I saw a story the last day or so stating the same about West Virginia but not Kentucky. That is not a bad thing as Kentucky tends to keep more of a lid on things usually.
Even if UK loses out on Payne, you have to draw encouragement from the fact that a couple of other big men, C.J Leslie and Terrence Jones (the 3rd and 4th rated forwards) attended the Blue/White game last night and that Leslie's appearance was a very spur of the moment thing, so you have to wonder if there is movement there.
