The saga continues and it still does not look for UK in the Kyrie Irving recruitment. After news slipped out that Irving had committed to Duke, Irving sent out a series of twitter texts denying it, and denied it again today and then pimped ESPN-U. In this static age, the commitments will be televised. There were other rumors today on Irving, all pointing him towards Duke. This whole scene is eerily similar of the Stacey Poole situation when Poole was ready to commit on a Monday and then it was moved to a Thursday afternoon ESPN-U show. We all knew that UK was going to get commit Poole and the only real drama was how many UK fans would tune in to boost the ratings. Now apparently, the U is hoping for a Duke/UK ratings bonanza.
The probable Irving to Duke announcement would not be a big shock. Irving has been a Duke lean for most of the summer and this announcement has been heavily rumored since 9/27 when Irving paid a visit to Duke.
After this, it looks like we can plan some more commitment viewing on the U as Tobias Harris and Terrence Jones are expected to announce their commitments in November. More and more recent buzz, including twitters from Coach Blevins from Hoops Report have said that Josh Selby will be a spring time decision and will not be deciding soon.
So it's just a few more hours until the Selby sage is played out. Get used to the pomp and circumstances. With Calipari at the helm, these recruiting wars will be televised.
