ESPN goes tabloid in trying to stir up a Calipari/Patterson rift

Wow. It's obvious that UK is back because the "World Wide Leader" is going all Weekly World News on the UK basketball program. Not saying that they make stuff up for drama (except for Pat Forde) but ESPN is masters at the drama filled headline for a story that is nothing. And I got suckered in this morning. Big Time.

The tease "Rumors: Calipari upset with Patrick Patterson" definitely caught my eye and I noticed that it was an "insider article". I have access to the insider links so I clicked on it and found this "hot story":

Calipari: "This is a post up team"
First coach John Calipari tells senior star Patrick Patterson he needs to shoot more. After last night's exhibition win over his alma mater Clarion, Calipari gave this sound bite to the Herald-Leader.

"This is a post-up team, too," Calipari said. "More of a post-up team than I've ever coached in my life. Some games we'll have to try to throw it to the post 50 times. They're big and huge."

So much for for all the analysts thinking Patterson would get lost on UK's guard -heavy roster. He had 14 (and even hit two treys) -- but how about that Wall kid?

Yea... that's pretty much the big story. The fact that Calipari recognizing that his big men are as good as his guards. And oh yea, Patrick is a junior and not a senior. But facts? Who needs facts? Not ESPN.

No drama, no rift, no feud. Except the fact that the Cats are gonna be absolutely freaking loaded this year. Shame on you for trying to cause drama, ESPN.

Embrace the hate, Cat fans.
