Everyone knows the saying "when a door closes, a window is opened". This pretty much applies to the top rated high school recruit Brandon Knight right now. As of today, the door was shut for Brandon's high school career as his Pinecrest Panthers lost in the Florida 3A Championship earlier today in Lakeland. Knight, battling a muscle injury scored 18 points, but his Panthers fell 70-46 to Tallahasee Rickards.
Now the window opens in the waiting process for his college decision. Multiple sources are saying that a decision is expected soon for Knight, but there is no timetable that has been set. It is an interesting recruiting year as fellow guards Josh Selby, Cory Joseph, and Doron Lamb seem to be waiting to see where Knight goes before announcing their decision.
Adam Zagoria recently quoted a Division 1 assistant coach who complained that Kentucky Coach John Calipari was holding everything up while waiting to see what John Wall and Eric Bledsoe were going to do:
“My thing is this, if you want to go to Kentucky then say you’re going there. [Kentucky coach John] Calipari really wants Brandon Knight and I think Coach Cal is holding everyone up.”
Rumors have Knight down to a final two of Kentucky and Florida, but this is just speculation from several sources.
While we are in the Florida State Championships, UK recruit Stacey Poole plays will lead his team tomorrow in a 2A semifinal game. Stacey Poole scored 10 of his teams 13 points in overtime on Saturday Night as his Providence School outlasted The Florida Air Academy 62-59 to advance to the Final Four.
